Why We Admit to Being Awful Photographers

If you follow along with our blog, you’re probably wondering “will they ever quit talking about this??” Answer: no. Looking to our latest listing as an example, there’s a reason we delegate photos to our dear friend, Melissa. Keep reading 🙂

Melissa is our professional photographer. Melissa is qualified. Melissa gets it. We don't know how to photograph a bathroom mirror without landing ourselves a cameo we didn't ask for. We have surprised ourselves from time to time with a crafty i-Phone picture but that's pretty much the extent of it.

Let's talk about our current listing. This little house in Pewee Valley is located within minutes of Crestwood, Anchorage AND Middletown. We love the location and we also love the price point. Listed at $149,900, these homes tend to sell quickly in the current market.

It's important to us that we highlight the effort our client has invested. Behind every home is often years of constant maintenance and updating. The homeowner did some some 'sprucing up', to say the least, and made this older home clean and new. With new laminate floors & carpet, cabinetry, countertops, paint and everything in between - this home actually has a new house smell.

We want that cleanliness to come across in the photos. We obsess over our listings being shown in the best light, because it's the number one way to find the right buyer. Buyers are forming an opinion of our listing long before they arrive there in person, and they're basing it on photos. For this reason (and many more) our professional photographer is one of our biggest assets.

As if I wasn't already sold on Melissa's value, she photographed this property in the rain. Rain is probably a light term. It was closer to a tropical storm. Somehow, she captured the above images through the drops. Like I've said before, she is superhuman.

There's a lot we could say on this topic but we'll just refer you to another recent blog post (click below) that says it all. (Maybe we do talk about this too much...?)

I had big plans for this bistro table and wasn't going to let them fall short. I put them on the deck for photos during a miraculous 3 minute break in the rain.

Another takeaway we want to mention: small houses deserve good staging and photography, too! Regardless of price point, we believe these things make a difference. Anytime you enhance the showing experience for prospective buyers it's a good thing. For that reason, we never stop at 'good enough'.
